Cyrtorchis arcuata subsp.
arcuata is found throughout most of tropical Africa to as far south as
the southern coast of South Africa. Cyrtorchis arcuata subsp. arcuata
grows most often in woodland, but may sometimes be found in riverine
forest, at 600-1600 meters.

A robust monopodial
epiphyte found mostly growing on syzydium cordatum in KZN or as a
lithophyte in full sun or semi-shade that often produces large clumps.
